You will join a well established and highly productive inter-disciplinary collaboration between basic researchers, neurologists, neuropsychologists and neuropathologists working on the worlds largest and best characterised cohort of FTLD from a defined geographical area. This position provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of this new and emerging field by performing the foundation work in this area. The remit of this post will be to design, perform and analyse cell biological and biochemical investigations of progranulin with relation to its role in FTLD. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the write up of results for publication in scientific journals and present at scientific meetings.
You will be involved in the day to day running of the project and will carry out cell culture of neuronal cell lines and protein/protein interactions of various proteins related to FTLD. Biochemical analysis of brain proteins will also be required. Experience of HPLC is desirable. You should also have submitted or completed your PhD in a related field.
This post is for a period of 2 years in the first instance and available from the 1 September 2008.
