MSc by research School of Chemistry, University of Bristol  

A one year research project studentship, leading to a MSc Degree, is available to start immediately to evaluate the impact of science outreach by a University department to schools (primary and secondary) and the general public. You will be based within Bristol ChemLabS, a HEFCE Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in practical chemistry at the School of Chemistry, University of Bristol. The student will work with Professor Dudley Shallcross (Outreach Director) and Mr Tim Harrison (School Teacher Fellow). The project will involve data collection (including questionnaire design and interview) and analysis of these data (including multivariate statistical analysis), design and testing of practicals, and production of a thesis. The MSc. will be awarded upon successful defence of the thesis in a viva voce examination. You should hold a degree in a science or social science subject and preference will be given to those with competency in statistics. You will need to be eligible for a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance to work with school students.

The post includes a stipend of £12,940 and payment of full fees for any EU students only (due to funding restrictions).
