Assistant Professor - Centre for Medical Education  

The Centre for Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University invites applications for an assistant professor position in Evaluation and Measurement.

Position

This individual will be involved in analyzing current evaluation methods and helping to promote best practices at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels; designing new evaluation methods for students, residents, and faculty members; and conducting scholarly activity at the Centre for Medical Education. He or she will work closely with the Undergraduate and Postgraduate training programs as well as individuals involved in the admissions process, the new Physicianship curriculum, and the McGill Medical Simulation Centre.

The successful applicant will hold a non-tenure track appointment in the Faculty of Medicine beginning as early as January 1, 2009. He or she will be appointed as a Core Member of the Centre for Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine and report jointly to the Director, Centre for Medical Education and the Dean, Faculty of Medicine for academic duties. This position is a contract position for a minimum of three years, with an automatic review performed after one year. The salary will be commensurate with experience.

Education/Experience

The successful candidate must hold a PhD with demonstrated expertise in testing and evaluation. Knowledge of test design, test theory, psychometrics and quantitative and qualitative research methodologies is required, as is evidence of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience in health sciences education and program evaluation would be an asset.

Its 12 core faculty members and 34 centre members aim to: serve as a resource for curriculum development and innovation; stimulate interest in educational research and development; advance the field of health professions education through scholarship; and ensure that research informs educational practice.
