Hybrid Electrospun Fibres from Biomass-Based Carbon Nanostructures
The School of Materials seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate for a 1 year period, in the first instance, beginning 1st October, 2008. There is the possibility of a further 3 years funding for this position. The project will use electrospinning and high temperature processing to develop novel composite nanofibrous materials from biomass. The structure of the materials will be characterised by electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy will also be used to map the interfacial micromechanics of the materials. The candidate should have (or expect to hold) a PhD in a physical science or engineering subject (preferably physics, materials science/engineering or mechanical engineering).
