Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Pharmaceutical Microbiology)
POSITION AS POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW in pharmaceutical microbiology
available at the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo.
Applications are invited for two currently available positions as postdoctoral research fellow, each for a period of three years, affiliated with Laboratory for Microbial Dynamics (LaMDa) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences. LaMDa constitutes one of the prioritized research areas at the Faculty. The positions are funded through the Functional Genomics (FUGE) II programme at the Norwegian Research Council, in a project entitled “From comparative genomics to systems biology - unravelling novel principle virulence mechanisms in pathogenic spore-forming bacteria”. The research group with which the postdoctoral fellows will be affiliated currently encompasses1 professor, 2 associate professors, 1 postdoc, 5 graduate (Ph.D) students and 3 Master (M.Sc.) students. The purpose of the fellowship is advanced research training. The succesful applicant must have obtained graduate (Cand. pharm., Cand. scient., Siv. ing., or equivalent, i.e. M.Sc. level) and postgraduate (Ph.D. or equivalent) qualifications, and should have acquired his/her Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) within one of the following fields: Microbiology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry or Bioinformatics. Knowledge and previous experience with relevant molecular biology methods is a prerequisite.
Postoctoral fellow 1 (reference number 08/76) will work on a subproject entitled “Identification and functional analysis of conserved putative multidrug transporters (MDR) in the Bacillus cereus group”, under the supervision of Professor Anne-Brit Kolstø.
Postoctoral fellow 2 (reference number 08/78) will work on a subproject entitled “Molecular and gene regulatory aspects of biofilm formation in the Bacillus cereus group ”, under the supervision of Associate professor Ole Andreas Økstad.
