Research fellow in bioinformatics

A PhD position (3 years) is available at The Department of Biomedicine, Medical Faculty and the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science at the University of Bergen in Norway. The position is financed through the Functional Genomics (FUGE) program of the Research Council of Norway. The research will aim at using a proteomic based approach for identifying post-translational modifications of nuclear receptors.

Applicants must have a master degree or equivalent, and have a strong background in computer science. Additionally he/she should have practical programming experience, knowledge in molecular biology, and knowledge/experience in mass spectrometry proteomics would be highly appreciated. The candidate must have proficiency in spoken and written English.
The research fellow must take part in the University’s approved PhD programme leading to the degree within a time limit of 3 years. Hence, applicants must meet the formal admission requirements for the PhD programme.
In total, the fellowship period is 3 years. The length of the fellowship period may be reduced if the successful applicant has held previous employment as a research fellow.
Starting salaries at level 43 (code 1017/LR20.1) on the government salary scale (which currently equates to NOK 325,800 gross per year), following ordinary meriting regulations (wage levels 43/47).
